Fun Facts

  • Smoothies as a concept emerged in the 1930s when the first electric blenders became available, but they truly surged in popularity during the 1960s–70s health food movement in the United States.
  • The vibrant pink color of a berry smoothie comes from natural pigments called anthocyanins, found in strawberries and raspberries — the same compounds linked to antioxidant benefits.
  • Berry smoothies are one of the most popular smoothie varieties worldwide, loved for their natural sweetness, bright color, and high vitamin C content.
  • Recipe

    Simple Berry Smoothie

    Ingredients:

  • 1 cup mixed frozen berries (strawberries, raspberries, or a blend)
  • ½ cup plain or vanilla yogurt
  • ½ cup milk (dairy or plant-based)
  • 1 tsp honey or maple syrup (optional)
  • A handful of ice cubes
  • Instructions:

    1. Add the frozen berries to a blender first, followed by the yogurt and milk.

    2. Drizzle in honey or maple syrup if you'd like a touch of extra sweetness.

    3. Add ice cubes for a thicker, colder result.

    4. Blend on high for 45–60 seconds until completely smooth and creamy.

    5. Taste and adjust sweetness or thickness (add more milk to thin, more frozen fruit to thicken).

    6. Pour into a large cup, add a straw, and enjoy immediately.
